Lance and Katie grew up in the US – Lance in Colorado, and Katie in Iowa. They met at a small Christian University in Missouri and got married a couple of years after graduating.  

From a young age, Katie was passionate about sharing her faith and felt called into Christian ministry. After graduating from Uni, she served on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship (the IFES movement in the US) in Kansas. Meanwhile, Lance was working in finance and volunteering with InterVarsity’s international students.  After a few years, they felt God calling them to serve overseas with IFES.

In 2019, they moved to Trinidad & Tobago, where they had the joy of supporting local staff and student leaders. However, in 2022, their request for a visa renewal was denied. They returned to the US, prayed a lot, and felt God place New Zealand on their hearts. As they learned more about Aotearoa and connected with TSCF staff, they felt God confirm the call to move to New Zealand. They arrived in June of 2023 and are happy to serve with TSCF for as long as they feel God wants them here.

Outside of student ministry, they enjoy spending time with their baby girl, Ariya, who was born in September of 2025. For fun, Katie likes to bake and Lance likes to get out for a run.
