Veritas is a group of law students who meet together to discuss God, the law, and other issues that affect us.
A typical meeting involves a controversial issue and a bunch of law students ready to debate and discuss various viewpoints. Past topics have included evolution, abortion, Rob Bell's Love Wins, and whether it is even possible to be a Christian lawyer! We also do Bible study, and have the ever popular "ask a law student" panel (where younger students can get advice from older students and learn what's in store for them). We also have guest speakers including lawyers from various firms, Veritas alumni and lecturers.
Our goal is to provide a community for people to be refreshed and also to see the law school impacted by Jesus. We want to encourage law students to live their lives both at law school and beyond in a way that honours God.
A new focus for 2012 is on our first years - Christian and non-Christian alike. As they are not generally thought of as "proper" law students (because only a fraction of them are taken into second year), they usually feel a bit left out and un-loved. A regular pop-in time is going to be set up where they can get help and mentoring from an older student.
We anticipate more than 200 participants for SPaRC (5-9 April). Please pray for a minimum of 30 from NZ to come. We would like to have one student from each TSCF group in NZ.

Pray for needed funds for all who attend. Also, PNG and Australia are hoping to send a good number. Pray for a diverse representation including Tonga, Vanuatu and even Samoa.

Pray for all the preparation happening including Bible studies, country-specific presentations, seminars and Bible teaching as well as all the logistics for the host committee
