Leaving a Legacy

Tertiary Students Christian Fellowship is working towards, seeing the gospel at the heart of New Zealand and New Zealand at the heart of world mission.

Today, TSCF does this by assisting students in their witness and encouraging students to apply the bible to every aspect of life. We are seeking to develop mature kiwi and international graduates who impact the marketplace, ministry and mission with gospel.

Looking to the future we are excited about the contribution strong thriving student groups can make to the nations social, educational, political, economic and spiritual health. We are passionate about reaching new generations with the gospel at one of the most open time in their lives. We are excited about the increasing impact graduates can have in the New Zealand marketplace. We also see huge opportunities for the gospel as international student graduates return home. We believe bequests will be a significant way of maximising the gospel opportunities ahead of us.

What is a Bequest?

A bequest is a gift of cash or assets included in your Will and is also known as a legacy. A bequest represents our final opportunity to invest in Gods work on earth.

Why make a Bequest?

A bequest is a unique opportunity to invest in the work of the gospel in a greater way than you’ve been able to do in your lifetime. A bequest is our final opportunity to bless and invest in the work of the kingdom

Many of us wish we could give more to help win, disciple and send students for Christ. A bequest makes this possible. Obviously there are many different calls on what we leave but we hope that some will seriously consider making a significant impact in the coming generations through including TSCF in their will.

Why give a Bequest to TSCF?

For seventy years Tertiary Students Christian Fellowship has been working on University campuses throughout Zealand. TSCF is nationally known and widely respected by church leaders, chaplains, academics, graduates and current students for the credibility and impact of its ongoing work.

Your generosity will assist TSCF to equip students throughout New Zealand and from around the world to be true witnesses who live and share the gospel on their campuses. The result will be students coming to Christ from Cape Reanga to Invercargill, from Asia to Africa.

Your gift will play a tangible part in helping TSCF develop the coming generations of students throughout New Zealand to apply the Bible to the whole of life, students who can relate the gospel to their studies.

Your support will help TSCF produce graduates of significance. Whose lives of gospel integrity and maturity impact the marketplace throughout New Zealand and around the globe.

Your backing will be felt around the world as TSCF equips international students to return home with gospel shaped purpose. As we enable more students to head into cross cultural settings in NZ and abroad to live and speak the gospel.

What will your Bequest be used for?

Every bequest we receive makes a significant difference to the support we give Christian students in their witness for Christ. A bequest to TSCF, with no restrictions as to it’s use allows maximum flexibility. It will be used where it will make the most long-term strategic difference to seeing the gospel at the heart of New Zealand. Bequests given to fund the work in a particular area of the country or a specific aspect of the work will only be used for that purpose. Nigel Pollock our National Director or Val Gould our Head of student ministries would be happy to answer any questions you have in this regard.

Do I need to contact a Solicitor to leave a bequest?

We think it’s good practice for all Christians young and old to have made Wills so people understand clearly what we want done with the assets God  blesses us with. When you make a will, it is recommended that you contact a solicitor or the Public Trust. It’s also important you have a Will so that your affairs can be settled quickly and efficiently, making the process easier for your next of kin.

How can I leave a bequest to TSCF in my will?

There are several ways to make a gift in your will to TSCF.

The simplest way is to leave TSCF a residue gift. After providing for your family you can nominate that you want to leave part of all of what is left of your Estate to TSCF.

Another way is to leave a nominated percentage of your Estate to TSCF.

You may prefer to leave a specific gift to TSCF. This can be a sum of money, real estate, shares, bonds or another such gift that you may wish to nominate.

Making a change to your will is very simple. You add what is called a Codicil, stating your wishes. There should be no charge for adding a codicil. Here is some standard wording that may be helpful.

I declare that the receipt of the National Director or Treasurer of TSCF SHALL BE full and sufficient discharge to my Trustees for the same and my Trustees shall  not be bound to see the application thereof.

You can do any or all of these by simply selecting one or all of these options when you fill out the attached Codicial form and return it to your Solicitor.

What do I do next?

If you have never made a Will before, you may find it helpful to read the booklet
(title) published by the Public Trust. If you did not receive one with this brochure please contact the TSCF national office, who’ll be happy to supply you with one.

If you already have a Will and simply want to amend it to include a bequest to TSCF, fill out the attached Codicial form, contact your solicitor and let them know you are sending it to them.
