I had a vision as a first year student: to see Christians and non-Christians challenged and eventually spreading the love of God in the hallways of university! Now, recently finished at university, I can see results of this vision in the lives of friends I’ve made during this time. I’ve been privileged to share in their faith journeys, and see some decide to become followers of Jesus.
Some of these friends were willing to share their stories with us.
Lin from China
‘Three things which have helped me grow in my walk with Jesus are: Bible study which has helped me know more about Jesus, His character, His preaching, His healing power and how His death offers forgiveness for our sins. The more I learnt, the closer I grew to Him. Though I had many questions, friends in WICF always gave me answers, which encouraged me to continue to learn His Word and seek for the truth. Church has given me the opportunity to worship Him within the community and understanding our relationship with God. Thirdly, TSCF conference taught me how to view my study from a Christian perspective, and what God expects of my life.’
Thi, from Vietnam:
‘I’m not a religious girl so studying the Bible, coming to church and joining Christian camps and conferences are quite interesting and new to me. I was pretty surprised at people’s faith in Christ and how He is an inspiration to my friends. By getting closer to Jesus, I am finding my own ways to answer why my friends and others have such faith in Him.’
Thanh, from Vietnam:
‘Before, I did not really believe that God actually existed because to me, stories in the Bible were just like fairytales. However, when I started reading and studying more, I found my life in the Bible. Now I can see the existence of God in every aspect of my life. I used to lose belief and blame everything on God. However, through the Bible study I know that all my loss and pain are just challenges in life before the start of the brighter future. I may not be able to live exactly like what is in the Bible, but I admire the way of life in the Bible, and that is what I want to spend all my life to achieve and experience.’
Adeline, from China
Adeline recently told me: ‘When I met you, I was looking for peace. You shared Jesus with me, and I found what I was looking for.’
‘Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life.’ (Philippians 2:14-16)
Like some of my friends, I now understand more about the impact the Word of Life can have.
