Val was born in the Waikato and is still a committed fan of Waikato rugby. She studied at Victoria University completing a BA in Economic History and then completed a BD at Laidlaw College before working as a bartender at the Wellington Parkroyal for one year! Val taught at Macleans College for four years before moving up an age group to work with university students.

Val is passionate about helping people live authentic, growing, and biblically shaped lives wherever God leads them, starting with those who are at university.
As Head of Student Ministries, Val is responsible for key national events that happen each year. She is developing work and resources to extend student work around the country with the aim of reaching further into this unique Kiwi context and cultural melting pot.
