James was born and raised in the South of England. He is the fourth out of four brothers and one sister, and is the proud Uncle of five nephews and and three nieces. He's very grateful for Skype which allows him to see and talk with his family whom he misses very much!
James studied Computer Science at the University of Greenwich in London. James joined TSCF in January 2006 after working with the UK IFES movement for three years. Since moving to New Zealand James has seen more live international sport than ever in the UK (he didn't see any) and is loving it!
The 18 months James spent studying in Canada (January 2009-June 2010) were quite formative for developing his faith and life beyond what he had formerly known. In his time there, his emergency appendectimy, followed by a a long-term stomach/bowel infection, allowed him to wrestle with his trust in God's sovereignty and God as healer in the face of suffering. His time there also expanded his view of the Creation, and has given him a fuller love and care for what God has made and a desire to live well within creation (he's especially excited to start a vegetable garden with his wife and raise their own chickens!) He also met and married his wife there!
Some of James' interests include music (listening and singing), science fiction, making people laugh, and coffee.
James is the team leader for the Dunedin region. One of his particular passions is for small group Bible study. He loves the sights and sounds of students studying the Bible together and being shaped by what they are learning. He believes that theology shapes every area of our lives, and is passionate about helping students to read the Bible well, and to think well for the sake of being and making disciples of Jesus Christ.
Formerly the Systems Manager and Wellington Staff Worker for the TSCF offices, James has just returned from study leave at Regent College in Vancouver, Canada, where he was preparing for his new role as Team Leader. While studying at Regent, James was most inspired by and focused in pastoral care and Biblical studies, and he is now hoping to pour his heart for both these areas into the students and TSCF staff at Dunedin. Dunedin will be a new location for James and his wife, Jen, and although warned about how cold Dunedin is, they are both already excited to put down roots there.

Praise God that He pulled us through Clubs Day and the International Welcoming Dinner (on the same evening!!) and the night that we took care of non-sober students!
