The Appointment Process

Step 1 - Initial contact

We may have met each other any number of ways. You may have chatted with one of our staff abroad. You may have visited the website a number of times or you may have called one of the staff. Either way we've made contact.

Step 2 - An informal meeting

If you are interested in us we'd like to have an informal meeting to chat about things further. The purpose of this is a two-way exploration. Are we a good fit? The question you'll be asking is TSCF a good fit for me. Can I get on board with it's vision, values and doctrine. TSCF will be asking itself is there a sense in which you could fit in and make a contribution to the work. We'll both have our antenna's out to sense if God is in this and if we should we take things further?

You might be thinking I live in ".............." how is this going to happen. Our National staff are travelling frequently and there is every possibility we can work towards meeting you. If a meeting cannot take place we'll arrange to have a phone conversation.

Step 3 - Application form is filled in

If we sense this should be taken further we'll send out application papers to you.

Step 4 - References are taken

As part of the application process we'll ask for your references. These will be followed up in a timely manner.

a) Church leader
b) Work supervisor
c) Friend or colleague (peer reference)

Step 5 - A formal interview is arranged

We'll then arrange for a formal interview to take place. If you are based overseas our National Director will arrange for your interview.

Step 6 - A second interview may be needed
For whatever reason a second interview could be for pastoral, health or practical reasons. It may involve a professional assessment or if you are in New Zealand a meeting with members of the Staff Committee. Either way it's best for both of us!

Step 7 - A decision is taken: Yes / No / Not Yet
We'll ask those interviewing you in New Zealand or those who the National Director has organised overseas to make a decision.

Step 8 - The decision is communicated
From here the team will either send an offer of employment to you or a letter of explanation explaining why we are not taking things further.

Step 9 - Confirmation is received
We'll wait for your letter of confirmation. On receiving it we'll work to agree on a start date and salary package. We'll then work with you to put in place your vision funding training and support. If you are coming from overseas we'll begin working with New Zealand immigration to see your application for a work permit or residency go as smoothly as possible.

Step 10 - The appointment starts
If funding is in place, your appointment will start with an induction and orientation.
