Palmerston North Overseas Christian Fellowship
Who are we?
We are students from Malaysia, Singapore, Africa, India, China, New Zealand, Europe and a whole lot of places in between except Antarctica. Yes, we come from all over the world, but what is central to us all is our love for the Lord Jesus Christ.
How would you describe MUOCF?
A welcoming family! Like in any family everyone is at various ages and stages. We have regular members who are not Christians and appreciate the warmth of welcome, the consistency of the food (it’s always good) and the opportunity to explore issues of faith and kiwi life. Other members have come to faith in New Zealand and others who became Christians in their home country.
When and where do you meet?
We meet at the Massey University Chaplaincy on Colombo RD (this is the main road into the centre of the campus) across from Colombo Hall at Massey University. We meet on Friday nights from 6pm.
What to expect when you come?
A great meal. The night kicks of with a fantastic meal at 6pm. The more structured part of the evening starts at 7pm with some games and singing. We usually have a bible study lead by student leaders. We break up into small groups who meet in various rooms in the Chaplaincy building. We’ll come back together for a brief talk and dessert. Everyone dresses casually in their student clothes.
What do you do?
We meet as a large group on Friday nights. We meet as small groups on Friday nights and during the week.We seek to see the gospel at the heart of the university through various outreaches amongst our halls, friends and departments.
